Deputy Chief Minister Nirmal Singh today visited Gurez and Tangdhar in Bandipora and Kupwara districts to take stock of the work on the hydroelectric projects. He also met several delegations of people there.
While inspecting the 330-MW Kishenganga hydroelectric project being constructed by the NHPC at Gurez in Bandipora district, he called for speeding up of the work. He said the executing agencies should synergise their efforts and hold regular meetings with departments concerned so that it is completed within the stipulated time.
Interacting with the delegation led by Deputy Speaker Nazir Gurezi, Deputy Chief Minister directed concerned officials to expedite the rehabilitation of the affected families.
The Deputy Chief Minister also assured the delegation of speeding up the work of providing power to various villages of Gurez and Tulail.
He later visited Karnah in Kupwara district to inspect the 12-MW hydroelectric plant coming up under the Prime Ministers’ Development program at Gundishat.
He interacted with several deputations of the area led by MLA Raja Manzoor and assured them of providing requisite basic facilities.
